Drug Testing For UK Drivers
The UK’s Home Office is developing an oral swab test to be used by police officers on drivers suspected of being under the influence of drugs. A positive test will result in a follow up blood test. The oral swab test will target illicit drugs, prescription drugs, and over-the-counter medicines. Statistics have revealed that nearly 10% of teenagers have drug under the influence of illegal drugs, although the most common form of drug driving is middle-aged or elderly women using prescription tranquillisers.
